A Point of View, A Line of Sight, A Field of Vision

A digital map of my mind-space, where boundaries - between the personal and the professional, between the cultural and the political, between the mundane and the arcane - are blurred, but the perspective is clear.

We’re all multidimensional individuals, doing our best to navigate an increasingly volatile and complex world, in which we play a variety of roles - some that we’re born into, some that we choose to take on, and some that are thrust upon us (to paraphrase The Bard). We’re trained to think analytically, to reduce complex things to their simpler components that are easier to understand and manage. But in reality, everything is connected to everything else, and a reductionist approach often makes us miss the proverbial forest for the trees.

It’s good to compartmentalize our various role-based personae, when the need for such compartmentalization arises. But each of us is a unique, singular individual - just the one person, with just this one life, and the sum total of all the lived experiences we try and make sense out of, when “in vacant or in pensive mood” (to borrow from Wordsworth).

This is my go-to space - where I can do just that, when I need to do just that. Here, I write it out, so I can understand it better, in all its dimensions.
